THE CHALLENGES OF BEING A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER IN INDONESIA

IN GENERAL

Being a high school teacher in Indonesia is a very noble and important profession in educating the nation. However, behind all of that, there are various challenges and difficulties that must be faced by high school teachers in Indonesia. In facing many challenges, high school teachers in Indonesia must have high dedication and enthusiasm in carrying out their duties. They must be able to maintain the motivation and learning spirit of their students, as well as be able to face all the challenges ahead of them.

Although the challenges faced by high school teachers in Indonesia are quite heavy, they still struggle to provide the best education for their students. Therefore, as a society, we must give appreciation and support to high school teachers in Indonesia.

WORKLOAD AND DEMANDS

  1. MINIMUM APPRECIATION AND WAGES
One of the main challenges faced by high school teachers in Indonesia is the lack of appreciation and compensation they receive. Although being a high school teacher requires high skills and qualifications, the salary received by teachers is still very low. This certainly makes it difficult for teachers to meet their daily needs, especially if they have to bear the cost of living in big cities.

  2. ADMINISTRATIVE BURDENS
Not only that, high work demands are also one of the challenges faced by high school teachers in Indonesia. They must be able to face a very heavy workload, from teaching to school administration. This is one of the factors causing high levels of stress and fatigue experienced by teachers, which can ultimately impact the quality of education provided to students.

  3. PARENTS' EXPECTATIONS
Teachers must also be able to deal with the high pressure from parents of students. Parents have high expectations for the results achieved by their children in school, and this can be a heavy burden for teachers. Teachers must be able to face this pressure wisely and remain focused on providing the best education for their students. They can also communicate with parents to build good relationships and support each other in the process of educating children.

  4. LIMITED FREEDOM TO LEARN
Another challenge is the lack of adequate facilities and supporting infrastructure. Many schools in Indonesia still have minimal supporting facilities, such as laboratories, libraries, and computers. This certainly makes it difficult for teachers to provide quality education to their students.

  5. STUDENT MISBEHAVIOR
One of the problems often faced by high school teachers in Indonesia is student delinquency. Many students are undisciplined, disrespectful to teachers, and even engage in violent behavior. This certainly makes it difficult for teachers to provide quality education to their students, as they have to deal with behavioral problems that often disrupt the teaching and learning process. Therefore, teachers must be able to address student delinquency appropriately, such as by providing appropriate sanctions and using the right approach to change the behavior of problematic students.

Although there are various challenges in the world of education in Indonesia, there is great hope for the development of education in the future. Some of the things that can be done to improve education in Indonesia include:

  1. Improving the quality of education and teacher welfare. Improving the quality of teachers will have a positive impact on the quality of education provided to students. In addition, improving teacher welfare is also important to increase their motivation and work spirit.
  2. Improving facilities and supporting infrastructure in schools. Adequate facilities and supporting infrastructure will help teachers provide quality education to their students.
  3. Increasing collaboration between the world of education, government, and society. Good collaboration between these three parties will help improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
  4. Increasing the spirit of learning and reading interest of students. This can be done by providing wider access to books and other learning resources, as well as by developing interesting and innovative programs.

By improving the quality of education in Indonesia, it is hoped that a more qualified generation will be formed and able to compete in the global world. Therefore, as a society, we must participate in supporting the development of education in Indonesia.
